Mankato Free Press: Greenseam: Study necessary to keep, attract agribusiness in region

EXCERPT: “A coalition of local agriculture and nonprofit interests want to know what small towns and rural communities can immediately do to attract and maintain large-scale businesses. To find out, Greenseam and the Center for Rural Policy and Development are asking lawmakers for $250,000 for an economic development study . . . Similar studies have been conducted in regions around the state in recent years, all looking for best practices to grow Minnesota’s economy. Local industry experts want to examine how prepared southern Minnesota communities are for potential businesses to come in or expand production. To that end, they’d like to see the study result in an economic development initiative similar to southeast Minnesota’s Destination Medical Center in Rochester or the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board.” FULLSTORY: http://bit.ly/2HG42Ij
