Duluth News Tribune: Grand Marais, Cook County propose new regional park

EXCERPT: “Cook County and the city of Grand Marais are teaming up to create a regional park just north of the city. The proposed Sawtooth Bluff Regional Park would be built on 640 acres already owned by the county and city. There is also potential to acquire two additional parcels in the future, a 78-acres parcel to the west, and a 21-acre parcel to the east. In Cook County, approximately 92 percent of the land is currently under the control of the state of Minnesota and the U.S. Forest Service; putting land under local control provides opportunity for community and regional enhancements, according to the proposed park’s master plan . . . Sawtooth Bluff, which served as a ski hill in the 1950s and 1960s, has sat unused for quite some time.” FULLSTORY: http://bit.ly/2FctTFM
